Below are some great resources to report and help fight against domestic violence:
AT USC
Title IX office: Reporting to Title IX starts an on campus investigation about the incident and provides resources like counseling to the impacted individual(s). You can decide to pursue a formal investigation or postpone it until a later date after meeting with a Title IX investigator. Moreover, it is up to the reporting individual whether or not they wish to pursue a criminal process too. Depending on the findings of the investigation the accused can be expelled or suspended.
Relationship and Sexual Violence Prevention and Services (RSVP): “Provide immediate therapy services for situation related to gender and power-based harm (e.g., sexual assault, domestic violence, stalking).” They have 24 hour on-call counselors who can accompany you for medical treatment, discuss reporting options or just to talk. Regardless, all their services and your information is completely confidential.
NATIONWIDE
The National Domestic Violence Hotline: 24 hour services provided both online and by calling their hotline. They provide counseling services, help discuss reporting options, help identify abusive relationships, and discuss legal options. “We answer the call to support and shift power back to people affected by relationship abuse.”
National Coalition Against Domestic Violence (NCADV): “The voice of victims and survivors. We are the catalyst for changing society to have zero tolerance for domestic violence. We do this by affecting public policy, increasing understanding of the impact of domestic violence, and providing programs and education that drive that change.” They don’t provide direct counseling services but will connect you to a range of national organizations for assistance. They educate the public on what domestic violence is and they influence policy to better protect and assist affected individuals.
